Cycling season is from February to May of each year

We are ready to begin practices for the 2012 Cycling season and details about the practices are shown below:

First, we will change our practice location for the 2012 season back to Joe Pool Lake.We use to practice at Joe Pool Lake a couple of years ago but changed to another location for convenience purposes. That venue is no longer available, so our best option will be Joe Pool Lake. This location will also give us a better practice location for the longer races that many of our athletes compete in.
To view a map of where we will be meeting for each practice, please click on this link. We will meet in the parking lot across the street from The Oasis restaurant. As we get further into the season, the parking lot will get more full each week. It will be good if the athlete can arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of practice so they can unload their bike and get prepared for the practice (check helmet (required for all practices), put on proper clothing based on the weather conditions and ride to where we will start our actual practice.
To view a map of the new route that we will be using for practices, please click on this link. The total distance of the route we are taking is 8.0 miles (or almost 13km). There is slight hill at the beginning and at the other side of the dam. The rest of the route is completely flat. On many occasions it can be windy, especially on the dam, but this gives us great practice as that is usually the condition that the athlete will face at Area and sometime State competition.
Second, we will be practicing on two days each week. We will have a practice on Saturday and another one on Sunday. The Saturday practice times may be a little flexible, but we will practice from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm each Sunday. You need to check our calendar for a precise schedule of what times we will be having practices on Saturday.
We need to practice two times a week in order to get the required eight practices before Area 11 Cycling Competition to be held on April 14th. There are only seven weekends until that date and one of those we will be involved in Area Basketball Competition. If we practice twice a week, that will give us 12 opportunities to practice. Weather can also be a factor in our practices and that is the reason to need more than eight available to the athletes.

Individual Cycling This is an individual that can ride a bicycle without any assistance. They can ride on either a modified three-wheel bicycle or a standard two wheel, single or multi-speed bicycle. They must be able to ride a standard two-wheel, single or multi-speed bicycle. If an athlete meets eligibility requirements they can compete in local, area, state, national and international cycling competition.
